This weekend was a blast! I didn't get to see many fireworks, in fact I only saw 2 on the way to Nick's families cabins, but that's ok! We had a great time at the cabins anyways! Friday I met Heidi and Zach and their nephews, Carter and Gunner, and we went swimming for an hour or so. Then Nick and Jonathan and I decided to head up to the cabins early. So we packed up ourselves and Jasmine and took her to grandma's to spend the night and took off for our very long drive to the cabins. It takes about 3 hours to get to the cabins...and we would have made it in 3 hours, but it was my first time driving and it was DARK once we hit Wellington, so I drove pretty slow on the dirt roads. Then Nick couldn't tell if we turned down the right road, so we drove about 30 minutes thinking, this might or might not be the right way! Talk about nerve wrecking! We had to break up an entire herd of mamma and baby cows because they were right in the road sleeping, but we finally made it. Then Saturday morning we got up and Gail and I took a hike and looked at all of the wild flowers. There were a TON more than the last time I was up there! What a difference a month earlier makes! We then painted the inside of the cabin and Jonathan and Fred hung 2 new doors and some drywall. Jonathan amazes me with his carpenter skills. This was the first time I've ever seen him do work and see the finished product, and I have to say I'm impressed! He did get to play a lot in off times as well. He shot guns with Derrick and spent a TON of time on the 4-wheeler. He and I were out riding and saw a mother and baby elk! They were just walking around! It is the first time I've seen a live elk! Granted it was a doe and didn't have huge antlers, but she was still HUGE! All in all, we had a blast!
Today I went over and took a bunch of pictures of mom for her new website. I have always enjoyed taking pictures, and today was really fun! I think I might end up taking a couple of photography classes as my electives at school. It would be fun, and maybe could help me out in making some extra money! :) Here are some pictures of mom. Nick's going to touch a few up with his amazing Photoshop skills, so these have some shadows in them! But it's easy to take good pictures when you've got someone like mom posing for them! She's so pretty and easy going!
